Fitness Center Needed

Our current community center should join in partnership with the effort to build a new fitness facility.

I actually don’t do this often. I started at 60 years old as fat and unfit. I became fit and less fat, but never skinny.

Good morning — I do not believe in nation building, but let’s try a little Community Building. I would like to leave this Earth a better place for my little guy. He was wearing his grandmother’s sun hat to breakfast last week. We need less shouting from keyboards and far more thoughtful moments of reflection – as the bible verse phrases it, Be Still and Know that I Am God — There is a common good that is greater than all of us. We achieve it when we work for a common good as a community.I am publicly tracking my attempt to lose my Pandemic Pounds. I view fat shaming as my bitter medicine. I am starting at 245 and am just now regaining some of the cardio fitness before Covid. I am off to Gold’s this morning. I wouldn’t leave Elmwood if we had the fitness center. I wouldn’t grab lunch there after I am out of the gym or grab a thing or two at the store. I would stay home maybe even walk to the gym and back. Some will say but we have the community center. Our current community center should join in partnership with the effort to build a new fitness facility. We all should, every one in our region. We belonged to the Community Center for a long time. I would not discourage people from joining; I would encourage people to join. It is not going to attract people to come here. I can go to Gold’s for nothing because I am old and have a Silver Sneakers card. Maybe as the Lake Woebegone store owner said, “if we don’t have it, you can probably get by without it” used to work as a marketing strategy – it will not in a modern world. Let us unite for health and fitness – that seems universal enough for all to agree. I know it is not — Comments, discussions, even attacks on me will be welcome. If you do not swear, demean others, wander off into a spitball fight of insults, and do not post anything false or wildly out of context. Yes do buy and gift my book – enjoy it and loan it let’s build public awareness. We must start putting some money in the till – It is a big hill to climb. I have found starting one step at a time always is required. — ENJOY, A NICE AUGUST DAY

Return to Fitness in Process

Gold’s Gym at Grand Prairie is great, but one in Elmwood would be far more convenient.
